CASE Benchmark Assessments Now Offers Lexile and Quantile Measures

TE21, Inc, an award-winning education company, and MetaMetrics®, developer of the widely adopted Lexile® Framework for Reading and Quantile® Framework for Mathematics, are partnering to provide improved data on student assessment performance. Student ability in reading is now being reported as a Lexile® measure and mathematical ability as a Quantile® measure through the CASE Benchmark Assessments online package. Lexile and Quantile measures are available to CASE customers.

TE21’s CASE Benchmark Assessments are designed to gauge the academic progress of students and to provide timely feedback that can be used by teachers to guide instruction. CASE reports are highly predictable and provide rich data, which educators can trust to guide their instructional decisions and provide students with appropriate goals and resources. Along with the data delivered by TE21’s CASE Benchmark Assessments, TE21’s online customers can receive Lexile and Quantile measures through secure sub-tests powered by the Lexile and Quantile Frameworks. The addition of Lexile and Quantile measures helps educators connect students with ability appropriate materials and monitor student progress toward college and career readiness standards.

The Lexile and Quantile Frameworks place both the student and instructional materials on the same scale to match the learner with appropriate math and reading resources at each student’s ability level. A scientific approach to reading measurement, the Lexile Framework matches readers to text. The Lexile Framework involves a scale for measuring both the reading abilities of students and the text complexity of materials they encounter. Similar to the Lexile Framework, the Quantile Framework matches students with instructional materials by measuring the mathematical ability of a student and the complexity of mathematical skills and concepts on the same developmental scale.
