Two New England States Will Now Report MetaMetrics’ Lexile and Quantile Measures

Students from Connecticut and Vermont will join more than 35 million around the world who benefit from measures linking assessment to instruction

DURHAM, N.C. — JUNE 18, 2020 — Connecticut and Vermont will now offer Lexile® and Quantile® measures, linking assessment to instruction for their over 640,000 students. MetaMetrics®, developer of Lexile and Quantile measures, today announced these two New England states join a growing number of other states from across the country that offer its measures.

The Lexile® Framework for Reading and Quantile® Framework for Mathematics place both the student and instructional material on the same scale to match the learner with reading and math resources at their ability level. When students receive Lexile and Quantile measures from a state assessment, their test scores become more actionable, allowing teachers and parents to link assessment to instruction.

In a press release announcing the Vermont Education Agency’s partnership with MetaMetrics, Deputy Secretary of Education Heather Bouchey said, “The Lexile and Quantile Frameworks are going to be a game changer for our career pathways efforts. We have been working hard to increase opportunities for students to explore and prepare for career opportunities while still in high school. Using Lexile and Quantile measures will help students be better prepared for the specific careers they would like to pursue.”

Both state departments of education — the Vermont Agency of Education and the Connecticut State Department of Education — will report Lexile and Quantile measures from their state assessment systems. In addition, educators from the two states will have free Premium membership access to the Lexile® & Quantile® Hub, an online platform that offers instructional and planning resources, including a career database, book search, text analyzer, academic word lists, math skills database and more.

“Lexile and Quantile measures are valuable tools to help states, educators and parents accelerate student growth so that all students are prepared for success in school, careers and life,” said Malbert Smith, CEO, president and co-founder of MetaMetrics. “It’s exciting to see more and more state education agencies incorporate our measures and resources, such as the Lexile & Quantile Hub, into their state support systems for parents and students.”
