Research Associate

Summary: Supports research initiatives through analyzing and communicating results with a focus on international research studies. Completes activities and projects related to additional research initiatives to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely manner and meet industry standards and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • With a focus on the work MetaMetrics is conducting with international clients, develop research documentation to communicate information about studies, products and assessments including validity and reliability studies according to Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, APA, NCME, 1999).
  • Design and support research projects based on client and company needs. These may include long-term projects as well as rapid-response projects determined by specific client questions or the needs of MetaMetrics.
    • Work with supervisor and Lead Researcher to design and develop research projects.
    • Support all aspects of designated research projects. Some studies may be in partnership with a client.
    • Develop data analysis plans and direct or conduct the analysis as needed.
    • Communicate results of studies orally and in writing.
    • Develop and maintain results documentation for clients.
    • Write up research results for various purposes and audiences including research briefs, conference proposals/papers, and industry publications.
  • Support additional research initiatives within the department as needed, including writing technical reports and research briefs.
  • Support Quality Assurance initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

  • Education and/or Experience. Master’s degree or Ph.D. (preferably in education or measurement or related field requiring analysis and interpretation of statistics); two years or more in a position that requires analyzing data and writing up research results. Teaching experience desirable.
  • Communication Skills. Ability to write technical specifications and research reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff, clients, and the general public. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret relevant technical materials and procedures.
  • Computer Skills. Proficient in data analysis software in addition to MS Word, MS Excel and Office applications. Proficient in Internet navigation and search utilities and high degree of comfort and ability for computer system and network navigation.

Quantile Research Associate

Summary: Leads mathematics assessment and curriculum product development and initiatives related to The Quantile® Framework for Mathematics including test specification development; test and item writing, as well as aligning, developing and calibrating curriculum to the Quantile Framework. Works independently and should demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicates with supervisor concerning schedules and product specifications to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Works with supervisor to communicate with clients about assessment design and implementation.
  • Defines product/test specifications.
  • Reviews, writes and edits test items using provided acceptance criteria and guidelines.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on item level data analysis using classical measurement theory and item response theory as requested for field and linking studies.
  • Reviews alignments and conducts alignments for the Quantile Framework to curricula including but not limited to state standards.
  • Calibrates Quantile resources and collaborates/reviews with other Quantile R&D staff regarding calibrations.
  • Develops research study proposals and coordinates Quantile R&D research efforts including pricing/budgets and scheduling with supervisor.
  • Writes technical and instructional documentation for publication in technical reports and related research documents.
  • Identifies opportunities and works with supervisor to write white papers and journal articles which relate to the Quantile Framework and current educational developments and research for publication in journals and on websites.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises curriculum specialists in work for all assigned projects; initiates and coordinates work with contracted item writers and reviewers.

  • Coordinates scheduling of Quantile R&D personnel resources.
  • Communicates regularly with the manager about successes and challenges related to daily and weekly progress towards goals.
  • Oversees contract hires and training.
  • Leads training efforts of new personnel.

Quality Assurance Manager

Quantile Curriculum Specialist I

Summary Writes and participates in editorial process for test item development.  The Quantile Curriculum Specialist I assists in mathematics assessment and curriculum product development and initiatives related to the Quantile® Framework for Mathematics.  Major responsibilities item writing according to specifications; and aligning, developing, and calibrating curriculum to the Quantile® Framework for Mathematics.  MetaMetrics has high expectations regarding work quality and ability to work cooperatively and independently.  Some presentation and writing required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists with assessment development based on test specifications.
  • Reviews, writes, and edits test items using provided acceptance criteria and guidelines for the Quantile Framework.
  • Aligns the Quantile Framework to curricula including but not limited to state standards.
  • Calibrates Quantile resources and collaborates with other Quantile R&D staff regarding calibrations.
  • Data entry required.
  • Conducts website and Quantile tool QA as assigned.
  • Assists with developing research instruments and data collection in research studies.
  • Identifies opportunities and works with supervisor to write blogs which relate to mathematics education and / or the Quantile Framework.
  • Prepares speaker proposals and presents at conferences.
  • Uses appropriate citation and referencing according to Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Education and/or Experience.

BA/BS in Mathematics Education or Educational Psychology.  Experience in mathematics instruction preferred.

Computer Skills.

  • Manage and organize email account and network files per departmental expectations
  • Proficient with Windows 7 operating system navigation; file storage, navigation and management
  • Basic knowledge of word processing applications such as Microsoft Word and Google Documents
  • Beginning knowledge of spreadsheet application capabilities such as Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheets.
