MetaMetrics Announces Key Title Changes
Educational Measurement Company Names New Senior Vice President and Two Vice Presidents
DURHAM, N.C. — Feb. 10, 2009 — MetaMetrics®, Inc., a Durham-based educational measurement company, today announced that Eleanor E. Sanford-Moore, Ph.D. has been promoted to senior vice president, research & development. The company also has named Trilby Berger as vice president, strategic partnerships and Todd Sandvik as vice president, corporate development. With these key management additions, MetaMetrics will move forward with strategic business goals and develop new opportunities.
As a senior vice president, Dr. Sanford-Moore will continue to oversee MetaMetrics’ research and development initiatives, including further enhancements to its widely adopted Lexile Framework® for Reading and The Quantile Framework® for Mathematics. She also will continue to manage the company’s consulting engagements to link the Lexile® and Quantile® scales with standardized reading and mathematics assessments and programs, enabling these instruments to report Lexile and Quantile measures. Prior to joining MetaMetrics in 1998, Dr. Sanford-Moore was senior testing consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, where she led the development of the state’s End-of-Grade Reading and Mathematics Tests for grades 3-8 and the End-of-Course Tests for 10 high school subjects. Dr. Sanford-Moore received her undergraduate degree in statistics from North Carolina State University, a teaching certificate in mathematics and general sciences from Montana State University, and her master’s and doctorate of philosophy in psychology from North Carolina State University. As vice president, strategic partnerships, Berger will continue her focus on developing new business opportunities for MetaMetrics’ reading, writing and mathematics measures and complementary consulting services. Berger has broadened the company’s footprint in the U.S. education market and established a partnership with GL Assessment, the U.K.’s leading provider of independent assessments, to increase the availability of Lexile and Quantile measures abroad.Berger joined MetaMetrics in 2003 to manage the company’s professional services and marketing departments. Prior to this, she was marketing and communications manager at All Kinds of Minds in Durham, N.C., where she coordinated organizational communications and managed conferences and other speaking engagements.
In his new role of vice president, corporate development, Sandvik will focus on the planning and development of MetaMetrics’ new products and services, as well as drafting proposals and contracts and conducting ongoing financial analyses to guide the company’s overall business strategy. Since joining MetaMetrics in 2002, he has been a senior project manager and director of operations. Prior to this, Sandvik spent five years as a proposal specialist at Nortel Networks in Research Triangle Park. He holds a master’s degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Montana.
In addition to these promotions, Otis Fulton’s title has been changed to senior vice president, government relations, to better reflect his role in securing state-level adoptions of the Lexile and Quantile Frameworks. Fulton joined MetaMetrics in 2000 with a broad background in education. He consulted with the Virginia Department of Education on the development of its Standards of Learning Tests and worked with hundreds of U.S. school districts as director of the Developmental Skills Institute, a nonprofit educational research and training organization in Richmond, Va.
