Lexile® WordBank and Academic Vocabulary in K-12

This report describes the development of Lexile® WordBank and Lexile® WordLists. The newly developed word lists were compared with two popular academic word lists: the Academic Word List (AWL) and Academic Vocabulary List (AVL).  Comparisons reveal that the two existing lists, both developed for adult populations, may not be as relevant for use in K-12.
