This research brief summarizes a study of Spanish texts in grades 1-5. The study, begun in 2017, examined Spanish texts from a sample of states where statewide textbook adoptions were common practice. The study confirmed the hypotheses that Spanish text complexity generally increases across grades 1-5 and that Spanish text complexity varies within each grade.
