A Pi Day Adventure Through Lexile Find a Book

Books about Pi Day and Albert Einstein with Lexile measures.

Infinitely Fun Books About Math? It’s Not Pi in the Sky!

Tuesday, March 14 is Pi Day! It’s a celebration of 𝝅, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, which is always just about 3.14. Mostly, it’s a celebration of mathematics with a dash of Albert Einstein (because it happens to be his birthday). This international day of recognition has evolved to include many interesting ways of acknowledging this mathematical constant’s enduring legacy in the hearts and minds of mathematicians—eating actual pie, for one, since it’s round and delicious.

The concept of pi is generally taught in middle school, (finding the circumference of a circle using pi has a Quantile measure of 930Q) but there are games, worksheets, even spirit wear for students of all ages available through PiDay.org. Here at MetaMetrics, we decided to scour one of our favorite resources, Find a Book, for interesting pi-related reads. We included a couple books about our favorite genius as well on the occasion of his would-be 144th birthday!
