NEW! Lexile Decodability Analysis
Decodability...down to the letter! Analyze your decodable books to provide useful sound-spelling information.
MetaMetrics’ new decodability analysis is a first-of-its-kind, research-based analysis of books for beginning readers who are learning how to sound out or “decode” words using phonics. Educators asked us for a tool to find books to match their curricular scope and sequence so students can practice the right letter sounds (and combinations of consonants and vowels) at the right time. We built the tool (Lexile® Find a Decodable Book!) and the analysis behind it. When you add decodability information to your books, you increase value for your customers.
Our Decodability Analysis Provides Unprecedented Detail.
From frequency of individual vowels (like short “a”) to number of consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) combinations, the decodability analysis includes precise data on what makes your books decodable. The information is provided in two ways:
- PUBLISHER REPORT (RAW DATA)
The analysis comes to you as a spreadsheet that can be used for decodable information printed on the book or in storefront listings on bookseller websites. - FIND A DECODABLE BOOK (PUBLIC WEBSITE)
Every book that is analyzed is added to Find a Decodable Book on the Lexile and Quantile Hub. This resource can be used by teachers and families to search and sort decodable books by letter sounds.
