Quantile Mathematical Demand for Career Accessibility

Abstract

In recent years, education policy in the United States has increasingly focused on the math skills and knowledge required for students to be considered college- and career-ready. Previous research from MetaMetrics® has documented the range of lesson difficulty for K-12 mathematics and quantified the student ability needed for general college and career readiness. This research brief expands on those findings and uses the Quantile® Framework for Mathematics to define the level of mathematics ability needed for an individual to be prepared for the math demands of a selection of common postsecondary careers and occupations.
